Advice

We ask that when you are taking measurements for your timber windows or doors, please make sure you:

  1. Provide measurements in millimetres and metres, not centimetres.
  2. Measure and record the height first, then the width. It is standard practice in the industry to order joinery by stating the height measurement, followed by the width measurement. This will avoid confusion and it will ensure that you have the correct size for your joinery.
  3. Measure the outside of the window or door frame. Make sure you look at the entire door opening from the outside of the house, rather than the inside. This way, there can be no misunderstanding about what side the door will hang.

Please find below an explanation as to the coding system used at Architectural Timber Joinery to define windows, doors and entries. When placing an order please use the codes indicated on the drawings to assist in providing you quality products and services.
